Over the past weekend, we traveled to Everett to visit family. Reflecting over the entire weekend, I'd have to say it was a pretty good road trip (when it comes to road trips). Imagining the explanation I would share with you of what exactly qualifies it as a good, I thought of the top 10 things that make for a good road trip, so here it goesYou Know It's a Good Road Trip When:
- You've been on the road two hours and haven't quite made it to the freeway 2 miles from your house
- The car is loaded and you realize something has to go in order to fit your contact lenses
- "________ went poop in their pants!!" is heard from the far back seat (you fill in the blank, no matter how you imagine it, it's the same amount of fun)
- The kids get up early, eat a lot of sugar, and don't take naps......for three days
- You have to bring your 5ft x 5ft flip out Spider-Man tent....where else are the kids going to sleep? (so sorry Kathy)
- You make a stop at McDonald's to buy chicken nuggets and chocolate milk.....at 2 in the morning...really? Anyone else feeling queasy here?
- Let's say you have a 8 month old, 9 month old, 2 year old, and 4 year old. They all start having a melt down and screaming at the exact same time....you're by yourself....what do you do? I'm still not sure, but there's a lot of sweating involved.
- On the way there, you have to make a stop in Ritzville, Vantage, Ellensburg, the rest stop in between, Cle Elum, and what's the name of that little city....
- Your wife and mother should win awards for being the most talented 'backseat drivers' (sorry Larry)
- You're late getting back home because the trip ends with a kid in the ER and 11 stitches (not mine...this time)
So now you're wondering what does a bad road trip look like? ..........similar to a good one, only without the laughing or the family

I can relate to that kind of a road trip! Why do we torture ourselves like this. They thank us when they're older right?!?
