Spa Day

"Mother's day is coming!" says Jr.

"Oh...it is?" mom plays dumb, "is that where moms sleep in and go to the spa all day?"

"Sure!!!" answer three sets of big brown eyes.

"Only you don't have to go anywhere" says Jr, "we can make a spa right here!!"

"How would you do that?" mom smiles just thinking about the answer she'll receive.

"Well" says Jr, "first, you get a bathtub full of really hot steamy water. Then, you cut up cucumbers and put them on your eyes.....then..." mom is laughing too hard on the inside to hear the rest of Jr's response.

"Yeah!" says Jake, "you put pickles on your eyes and get your hair done, we can do ALL that!!!"

hmmmm, I can't wait to see what happens on Mother's Day :)

April Fools

The definition of mom does not include fun.

Usually this title goes directly to Uncles, Aunts, Grandparents, and sometimes Dad. So, I decided April Fools Day was a good opportunity to actually be fun for a change. Larry Sr and I stayed up long after the boys went to bed last night to prepare the boys' 'lunch'

I just loved this idea I found online and love even more that the boys are getting old enough to enjoy these kind of surprises for the first time! The fish sticks are wafer cookies covered in peanut butter and then coated in crushed corn flakes. The peas are pieces of green Air Head taffy rolled into balls, and the carrots are cubed orange Starbursts. The sauce...strawberry jelly.

Of course, the reveal had to be video taped! Fun memories for later and documented proof that a mom, especially this one, can be fun sometimes :)

Now to explain to those blank stares what 'April Fools!" means

Family Dance Off

Every Tuesday is Trefry Family Fun Night

this week was a Wii family dance off!

I kinda like being the loser because it gives me a chance to get views like this!

plus, I know I'm the best dancer anyway, the game is a sham ;)

Who was the winner then? Jake...that boy can really shake it!

skulls and crossbones

JR: "My teacher says you shouldn't eat anything with a skull on it"
MOM: "Yes, that means it's poison and it can make you very sick"
JAKE: "oh, like the skull that's on our pirate Lego ship too!!"
MOM: "Yes, you shouldn't eat Legos either"
LESSON LEARNED: don't eat anything with a skull on it....a good rule of thumb

Map of the World

I thought it would be fun to place a pin on a world map each time I sold a book so the boys could learn more about the world around them and other countries.
We headed out shopping for a world map today.
"Should we buy a map online or should we go to a store and look around?"
I ask Larry Jr in the car.
"You don't really have to buy one," he says "I could make one, I know all about the world!"
"There is a lot of places and countries in the world buddy, I couldn't even name all of them!"
I answer.
"I know all the countries," he responds very sure of himself, "...like China, New York, Seattle, Spokane, the jungle....oh yeah, and the North Pole!!"

Little Perspectives

After putting the boys to bed I decide to take a bath
A little while later, I hear a little two year old voice outside the bathroom door,
"haf ta pee reel bad mom!"
I see a little nose timidly poke past the door

"I'll be right out Luke" I answer, "I have to get out of the bath and I need some privacy, can you give me some privacy buddy?"

"ya, uh huh!" he says and perks up a bit before he barrels his way into the bathroom
"in here momma?" he asks as he points to the sink cabinet,
very excited to get me what I asked for
guess we don't need to worry about privacy just yet

Little Perspectives

"You better be good and do what your mom says or I'll give your Christmas presents to charity" Uncle Chris gives empty and mom appreciated threats to the boys before he leaves for the west side.
"who's Charity?" Jake asks in disgust.
Awwwwe, the Christmas spirit
